Good news overall and I'm feeling grateful.
CT scan showed everything stable except there's two small lymph nodes in my abdomen that increased in size. Right now we'll just monitor those spots over time cause it could be inflammation or cancer. I also seem to have some inflammation in my lungs. The good news however is that all my vital organs are clear of cancer and looking good. The clinical trial I'm on with Zanidatamab and Xeloda is still working and I'm so thankful for that.
When I first got my results and saw the increased lymph nodes, I had a mini panic attack because I thought I had progression and would need to go off the trial. I had my stage 4 thriver friends talk me off the ledge and thankfully after meeting with my oncologist, it wasn't as bad of news as I thought and in fact good news overall. Gosh how lucky am I to have such good friends.
That's the thing with stage 4 breast cancer. You wait for the scan, worry about the scan, worry while waiting for results, panic when reading and interpreting the results, wait to talk to the oncologist to find out your fate and whether you need to switch treatments. Time seems to slow down and you're life is in the hands of this endless cycle. Something I experience every 6 weeks.
But through all that, there's so much good. I'm here, I'm alive, I've got good news, supportive friends, family and I'm feeling well. I know there can be bad news and I've experienced that multiple times throughout this journey. I know what it's like to go from worst case to best case. And now, I get to continue to live in best case with more time on this Earth and I don't take that for granted.
As I reflect on this news, I'm both happy and sad because I'm aware that friends and others are in a case of bad news and progression, just waiting for the good news to come. I'm aware, and I'm holding so much love for those who are in that phase of their journey. We deserve more. Stage 4 breast cancer deserves more.
Right now, I'm feeling happy with the results, grateful for more time and holding space for the realities of this disease that brings both good and bad in this life.
Onward I go on this trial, still getting treatment every 3 weeks and scans every 6 weeks. Next scan is going to be more telling and I'll try not to worry. What will be will be. But hoping and praying that the lymph node growths are due to inflammation.
So appreciative of all the prayers, love and support from so many. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Love, Stacy
